Dolphins Trade Idea Sends Disgruntled All-Pro to Lions for $72 Million

In search of a possible landing spot, Bleacher Report’s Zach Bachar suggested a trade idea that would send Jalen Ramsey to the Detroit Lions, who had one of the worst secondaries in football last season, as demonstrated by their loss to the Washington Commanders in the playoffs.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Dolphins and Ramsey are mutually set to explore trade options, and the team is still looking to trade him. The Miami Dolphins’ decision to not trade Ramsey is somewhat surprising given the current situation.

Despite having a 15-2 record and securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC, Detroit lost to the Washington Commanders 45-31 in the divisional round of the playoffs last season.

Jayden Daniels, the quarterback for the Commanders, excelled in the air, going 22-of-31 for 299 yards and two scores during the victory. The Lions had the third-worst pass defense in the NFL in 2024, and their coverage was patchy,” he noted.

After the draft, the Lions still have some defensive needs, and they might be interested in adding a player like Ramsey.

The veteran All-Pro is a logical addition for a team that is in a Super Bowl or bust season.

The Dolphins signed Ramsey to a three-year, $72 million contract an offseason ago, but there is also a huge contract linked to him.

Miami may be able to sever connections with him if they are willing to accept that contract and give the Dolphins a third or fourth-round pick.
