Micah Hudson, a former five-star recruit who transferred away from Texas Tech following the 2024 season, is returning to the school.

Hudson was a top-10 recruit in the 2024 class and was predicted to contribute right away to the Red Raiders. That did not occur. He only participated in eight games due to injury, but he caught eight passes for 123 yards and no touchdowns. In 2024, Hudson had ten more catches than any other player.

After the season, Hudson went to Texas A&M via the transfer site. But he was only with the Aggies for a few months. Hudson returned to the transfer portal in March.

The Temple, Texas, native was the No. 9 recruit in the class of 2024 and the No. 4 wide receiver. His dedication was viewed by Joey McGuire’s staff as a coup because he was the best recruit in the state of Texas.

Ahead of the possible House settlement in 2026, Texas Tech has benefited greatly from a larger NIL investment, making them one of the most active clubs in the transfer portal this offseason. According to Rivals, the Red Raiders boast four top-100 transfers and the third-best transfer class in the nation. Purdue CB Tarrion Grant is the top-ranked Tech transfer among rivals, and the team has also added two elite offensive linemen via the portal.

After losing to Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl, the Red Raiders finished 8-5 in 2024. After finishing 6-3 in conference play, Tech is expected to be among the favorites in 2025, when the Big 12 is wide open.
