HATTERAS, North Carolina — Tolls on all ferry lines are being proposed by North Carolina. The North Carolina Senate proposed a budget that would allow the state’s board of transportation to impose charges on all ferry routes. The budget was approved by the N.C. Senate this month and will now be sent to the House for approval. According to the budget, people who pay a vehicle toll are exempt from paying separate passenger tolls. Tolls may be stopped during an emergency. An yearly commuter pass would cost $150 and be available to commuters. Additionally, a $150 annual pass would be available to vehicles who deliver products and services.
