In a move that has Bulldog Nation buzzing, former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray is officially back in Athens. The university announced Monday that Murray will join the football program as Director of Player Development, marking a heartfelt return to the school where he set numerous records and became a fan favorite.

A Dawg Comes Home

Murray, 34, spent four years under center at Georgia (2010–2013), becoming the SEC’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns — records he still holds today. Known for his leadership and toughness on the field, he now brings that same passion off the field in a role focused on mentoring young athletes.

“I’m beyond excited to be back in Athens, back with the team I love,” said Murray. “This program shaped who I am. Now I get to help shape the next generation of Bulldogs.”

Player Development with Purpose

In his new role, Murray will focus on life skills, academic support, and leadership training — ensuring players grow not just as athletes, but as men. Head Coach Kirby Smart praised the hire, citing Murray’s unique ability to relate to players and his deep understanding of Georgia’s football culture.
