Earth Week 2025: “Our Power, Our Planet”
From April 21st to 27th, Kuramathi celebrated Earth Week with the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” The resort organized activities for guests and staff, including tree planting, eco-craft workshops, and a vibrant Earth Day Parade featuring children dressed as animals and plants. Adults participated in hydroponic garden tours, marine life talks, and reef clean-up dives, emphasizing the resort’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
Innovative Waste-to-Hot Water System
In a significant move towards sustainability, Kuramathi implemented a waste-to-hot water system that repurposes heat from power generators to supply hot water to villas. Currently servicing one-third of the island, the system reduces reliance on electric boilers, conserving energy and water. The resort plans to expand this system island-wide, showcasing its dedication to eco-friendly practices.
Festive Season Celebrations
The resort concluded 2024 with festive celebrations from December 21st to January 1st, 2025. Highlights included a Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, live performances, culinary events, and a New Year’s Eve gala. The Bageecha Kids Club offered activities like cooking classes and treasure hunts, ensuring a memorable holiday experience for all guests.
Promoting Women in Science
On February 10th, Kuramathi marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by hosting an exhibit at the Eco Centre. The event showcased contributions from female leaders in marine science and transportation sectors in the Maldives. A career talk on February 11th aimed to inspire young girls from neighboring islands to pursue careers in science, aligning with the resort’s commitment to community engagement and education.
Shark Awareness Initiatives
In July 2024, Kuramathi celebrated Shark Awareness Day with educational activities, including marine biology presentations and snorkeling sessions on the house reef. Children participated in crafts and games focused on shark conservation, fostering awareness and appreciation for marine life among guests of all ages.
Holistic Well-being Focus
On June 8th, 2024, the resort hosted Global Wellness Day under the theme “#MagentaNature.” Activities included chakra meditation sessions and personalized wellness programs, emphasizing the importance of physical and mental health in a serene island setting.
