Gibson, who gained soap recognition as Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless, is now diving into the world of mob families, boardroom battles, and emotional turmoil in the fictional town of Port Charles. Taking over a role like Michael Corinthos isn’t just about learning lines — it’s about stepping into a legacy. The character, son of Carly Corinthos and A.J. “I was a little intimidated, to be honest,” Gibson admitted with a laugh. “Michael is not just a character — he’s history on this show. I did my homework. I binge-watched clips, talked to writers, and tried to understand who he is at his core. There’s this balance of heart and steel in Michael, and I want to honor that.”
Gibson credits the show’s cast and crew with making his transition smoother than expected. “Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Laura Wright (Carly) have been incredibly generous. They welcomed me like family, and that helped me ease into the role faster than I thought possible.”
From Genoa City to Port Charles
Soap fans will recognize Gibson from his time on The Young and the Restless, where he played Noah Newman from 2021 to 2023. That role gave him his first taste of daytime drama — and also prepared him for the fast-paced, emotionally intense storytelling that defines General Hospital.

Gibson’s debut as Michael comes amid a swirl of dramatic developments for the character. “I know people love Chad and are used to seeing him in the role,” Gibson acknowledged. “And honestly, I get it. I hope viewers will give me a chance to show my take on Michael. I’m not trying to replace what came before. I’m just building on it.”
Early fan reactions online have been mixed, with some expressing excitement and others expressing nostalgia for Duell’s portrayal. But Gibson remains focused on the work.
“I approach every scene with honesty,” he said. “Soap fans are smart — they can tell when someone’s faking it. My job is to be real, even when the story gets wild.”
